NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The latest report by RealtyTrac found that foreclosures made up one in three home sales in the second quarter of 2011, which is up 24% from last year.

 

Becky Meagher has worked in the real estate business for 20 years. She told Nashville's News 2 she has been through the ups and downs in the economy and recently she has seen a broad spectrum of foreclosed home on the market.

 

"There are a lot of foreclosures.  The economy is really hurting people," says Meagher.

 

Many homeowners are dealing with the burden of owning a property that is underwater.

 

Often times, they are forced to turn to short sales to avoid the financial fallout of a foreclosure.

 

Meagher said the cost of a foreclosed home can save a home buyer thousands of dollars.

 

For example, a custom six-year-old house was purchased for $185,000....

Little Rock, Arkansas., - After twelve years spent working with and helping hundreds of buyers and sellers achieve all of their real estate goals, Crye-Leike Executive Broker Maurice Taylor has another great accomplishment to add to his career.

 

Maurice was recently named "Realtor of the Year" in 2011 by the Little Rock Board of Realtors. Nomination forms were sent out to the general membership and Maurice was selected based on criteria including business accomplishments, civic activities, local, state and national realtor association board activity and Realtor Spirit.

While real estate agents stay pretty busy during the final days of the summer home selling season, Crye-Leike's Middle Tennessee Realtors have definitely been in a buying mood. Agents have been busy shopping for back to school supplies and backpacks to donate to children in the care of Youth Villages in Nashville and surrounding counties.

Arkansas Realtor? and ARA Past President Karen Crowson has been named President-Elect of the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO).

 

Founded in 1930, ARELLO is an international association of real estate regulatory agencies around the world that promotes excellence in global real estate regulation.

 

Crowson is managing broker for Crye-Leike REALTORS?-Benton Branch. She has been a broker since 1995 but licensed in 1987. She holds the ABR, CRS and GRI designations.
