Memphis, Tn - Normally, getting through the gates of Southwind isn't an easy task if you don't live there or know someone who does. But, that's not the case today. In a rare open house opportunity, the community showcased their amenities and about 30 of their homes for sale, hoping people will buy.
Starting at 2 in the afternoon on Sunday cars lined up, hoping to get a glimpse of the high dollar homes.
Houses for sale in the community range in price of $300,000 to $3,000,000, and local Crye-Leike Realtor Melinda Merkle says they're hoping the exposure will turn into some sales. "With the economic change we have seen the higher end homes are slower to sell for sure and so part of this is to generate sales...

DICKSON, TN., - Agents at Crye-Leike Dickson are encouraging folks in the community to de-clutter their apartments, homes and offices and donate unwanted new and slightly warn items to the company's United Way Yard Sale Kick-Off Fundraiser.
"For the past several years we've held a big yard sale in September, but due to an excess of donations from last year we decided to have a pre kick-off sale next month," said Cindy Smith, Crye-Leike Dickson Affiliate Broker and Office Captain for United Way. "We will still have our large United Way Yard Sale in September as well and we hope folks can support us twice this year instead of just once."
Through its yard sales the past two years Crye-Leike Dickson has raised more than $1,000 for local agencies supported by funds from United Way. With two sales in 2009 the agents and staff hope to double what they've raised in the two previous years.
"While our local...

Suzanne Watson, a Realtor with Crye-Leike, has proposed opening up houses during the evening hours after the workday, giving prospective home buyers an alternative to the traditional Sunday afternoon open house.
Dubbed "twilight open houses," the concept began gaining popularity in different parts of the country a few years ago, and agents like Ms. Watson say they are just one more way that her industry is reacting to the slowdown in the market.
"I guess we Realtors have to start thinking out of the box," she said. "We have a lot to be thankful for, bu...

BRENTWOOD ? Home sales seem to be picking up, but buyers can still find some unusual deals, such as a free trip to Paris that now comes with one new house in Brentwood.
The home in question is at 384 Childe Harolds Circle in Fountainbrooke. Built by Richard Cameron in 2008, the two-story brick traditional has 5,121 square feet and occupies a .64-acre lot. With four bedrooms and 4? bathrooms, it was originally listed for $879,000; the price has been dropped to $699,900 and a five-day trip for two to Paris has been added.
Agent Brenda Wilhoite of Crye-Leike said the hope is that the trip offer will grab the attention of the right buyer. To encourage people to come see the house in person, she has removed all photos...
